Omni Recruit turns 21(in dog years)

15th August 2017

August 2017 saw Omni Recruit celebrate our 3 year anniversary, or 21 in dog years (about the same number of years I’ve been in the Recruitment Industry) and one thing I can share with some of my connections who have recently ventured out on their own is that it does get easier.

The first few months and year seemed to fly by and involved setting up all of our systems and processes, securing our existing clients and re-establishing relationships with old clients. The second year saw us continuing to gain traction, grow our client base and diversify the industries and services we offered.

Our third year saw us move upstairs into a bigger office at the Gold Coast, open a new office in Brisbane, expand our client base to North Qld and the Northern Territory and strengthen our Strategic Partnership Alliances in other states. The most satisfying thing in our third year was re-visiting some clients who were wary when we first started out, demonstrating how we’d grown and bringing them onboard as new clients.

One thing that works well in our office is offering a flexible working environment for staff coming back from maternity leave. Three of our team (Lindsay, Steph & Renee) have had babies and returned on flexible working arrangements starting back 1-2 days a week and moving up and down between 2-4 days or as needed.

* Renee is leaving us again soon to have baby number 2 in October so I should reconsider converting a downstairs office to a crèche)

Our third year also saw Mark Pilkington join us to head up the Permanent Recruitment team and he’s based at the Brisbane office. In addition to his recruitment skills, Mark has helped lift the male percentage to 25% to balance out our own gender equality issues (and he feels right at home having 4 young daughters).

This post is also a quick way to say thank you to our loyal clients, welcome on board to our new clients, and the biggest thank you to the fantastic recruitment team (in order of service, not favoritism): Lindsay Ong, Steph Taylor, Natalia Florczyk, Renee O’Sullivan, Mark Pilkington, Maxine Davidson and Tailor Bevege; and the support team of Robyn Dyhr (Accounts), Ib Dyhr (IT) and Mark Sharman (Accountant).

Thanks

Darren
